"With All of Our Voices"

Rev. Lee Bluemel leading

How is joining a congregation different than rooting for a football team? How is communal religious practice different than a spectator sport? Who is welcome in a UU congregation, what are our stories, and what gets in the way of making connections among and beyond us? Join us for a Sunday when we celebrate our Kindergartners and our newest members!

It is “Souper Bowl” Sunday; all are invited to bring a can of soup to give to the People’s Pantry. Wear your red, white and blue Patriots’ wear or your Lunar New Year outfits, and bring soup!

During this month of “30 Days of Love” (Martin Luther King Jr. Day through Valentine’s Day), the national UU “Standing on the Side of Love” campaign urges Unitarian Universalists to tell stories of those whose words and deeds exemplify values of inclusion, diversity, community and equality. We are also urged to engage in- and share stories of- our public witness for equality and actions on behalf of those who may feel unloved and excluded.

Milestone Ceremonies: Kindergartners receive their chalices; New members are welcomed
Coffeehour: 12:00 Lunar New Year Party!

Music:
Duets by Anna Choi and John Middleton-Cox

Children and Youth: On Sunday, February 5th, the Kindergartners will receive their chalices during the Kindergarten Chalice Ceremony. Parents and teachers will be invited to come up to the front with their kindergarten children during the ceremony. Following the ceremony, grades PK-5 will go down to regular RE classes. Junior Youth Group will meet to continue discussing Buddhism in Older Center Hall during the 11:00 service, and Coming of Age will meet from 11:00-12:30 upstairs in OCH to discuss the concept of God.
The Our Whole Lives panel discussion will take place from 1:00-3:45 upstairs in Old Center Hall, and Senior Youth Group will meet to discuss final details for the Ski Trip from 12:30-2:00 in the Chapel.

Junior Youth Group is still collecting new or very gently used stuffed animals for our Stuffed Animal Drive! Donations can be dropped off with either Tu Le, Youth Coordinator or Sara Schwindt, DRE.

Senior Youth Group babysitting night on Saturday, February 4th from 6-9 p.m.! $20/family; proceeds will go to support the Senior Youth Group ski trip in February! Please contact Sara Schwindt (dre@northparish.org) or Tu Le (TLYouthCoordinator@gmail.com) for more details or to RSVP. RSVPs not required, but helpful!**

North Parish is happy to be sponsoring the Birthday in a Box program in February for Hancock Court in Lawrence! This program is designed to ensure that every child living in the Hancock Court housing complex gets a birthday party and small gift. If you are interested in donating supplies for the party, look for the "cake" in the Parish Hall! Donations can be put in the marked box, also in the Parish Hall.

Our Mission Statement

We covenant together to be a welcoming spiritual community, where all are safe and free to search for spiritual meaning in their own ways. We find strength in the many forms of diversity. In the Unitarian Universalist tradition, we covenant to take responsibility for the spiritual growth of ourselves and of our children. We encourage all to participate in congregational governance. We strive to continue our historical role of being catalysts for progressive change in the local communities. Through active personal involvement we advocate for social justice in our local communities, our nation and the world. We do this in the context of the Unitarian Universalist principles and from the perspective of our place in the intricate web of life.
