North Parish Book and Movie Club meets March 11 at 7:30pm in the Parlor, all welcome.  Upcoming schedule:  March 11th-(book discussion) Our book in March will be Calculating God by Robert Sawyer. It is science fiction, but with a twist. The aliens that come to earth are theists and are looking for evidence of intelligent design on Earth. They are convinced that what they have seen in other galaxies is proof of a greater being with a plan. Join us on March 11th for a stimulating discussion that might get you thinking about how you would react if you were shown evidence from beyond your ex¬perience. An easy read with some interesting things to talk about. this is a science fiction selection.
April 8th-(movie discussion) Mindwalk is a fictionalized depiction of the ecological and holistic teachings of the philosopher Fritjof Capra filmed by his brother Bernt.  Mindwalk consists almost entirely of the verbal interplay between its three archetypal characters, physicist Sonia (Liv Ullmann), conservative politician Jack (Sam Waterston), and poet Thomas (John Heard). The trio meet for the first time at Mont Saint Michel, a medieval French abbey. Each is suffering misgivings about pivotal life choices; Sonia questions the role of ethics in her work, Jack harbors fears over the government's attitude toward the environment, and Thomas' wariness over an increasingly conservative society has prompted a permanent move to France. The question haunting all three: What now?

Our Mission Statement

We covenant together to be a welcoming spiritual community, where all are safe and free to search for spiritual meaning in their own ways. We find strength in the many forms of diversity. In the Unitarian Universalist tradition, we covenant to take responsibility for the spiritual growth of ourselves and of our children. We encourage all to participate in congregational governance. We strive to continue our historical role of being catalysts for progressive change in the local communities. Through active personal involvement we advocate for social justice in our local communities, our nation and the world. We do this in the context of the Unitarian Universalist principles and from the perspective of our place in the intricate web of life.

Welcoming Congregation

North Parish is a Welcoming Congregation, consistent with the guidelines of the Unitarian Universalist Association. We actively welcome lesbian, gay. bisexual, transgender, and intersex people as full participants in the life of the church. For more information, see our Welcoming Congregation page
