New Year’s Day Celebration with Musician Jim Scott

In longer Day

10am – 11am on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at North Parish

Jim Scott mixes songs and personal reflections on the season with a spiritual, ecological awareness. From appreciating the darkness to the longer days, Jim’s songs and poetry reaffirm our place in the amazing, continuing web of life. An environmental activist with his music, Jim was recently awarded a grant to present his multimedia concert “The Year to Save the Earth” that he intends to take on tour nationally. He played for years with the Paul Winter Consort, has made 9 albums of his own music, and compiled the “Earth and Spirit Songbook.” Former Co-Chair of the Unitarian Universalist Ministry for the Earth, Jim makes the case for our “spiritual response” as we are facing a crisis of the life spirit of the earth. Visitors, families, earth lovers and environmental activists are welcome to start the New Year by experiencing this uplifting hour, appropriate for people of all ages. Following the service, there will be refreshments followed by a family and friends hike along the Stevens to Stevens trail, leaving from the North Parish Labyrinth at 11:30.
