July 4th Event: Declaration of Independence Recitation

In place of a morning Sunday service, we are encouraging people to attend the July 4th Event on the Common in front of North Parish, sponsored by The Friends of the 1836 Meeting House and the North Andover Historical Society and featuring North Parish musicians and readers.

Community leaders and activists will read the Declaration of Independence and speeches highlighting racial justice and voting rights.  Historic speeches by Frederick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln, MLK, Frances Harper, Susan B. Anthony and LBJ are included.

Music selected to complement the readings will be performed live and include Anna Choi, Aering, the 3rd Baptist Church Praise choir and members of the White Street Band.

Readers include State Reps Tram Nguyen and Christina Minicucci, representatives of Indivisible Andover, North Parish member Darnell Canada, local activist Josh Alba and MLK performer Ralph Bledsow and more.  The event will be held live at the North Andover Common on July 4th from noon until 1:30 pm.  Go to the Friends of the 1836 Meeting House to learn more.
