March 2, Online Lenten Retreat based on Jan Richardson’s Retreat A Path Called Solace
With Rev. Ellen Spero, UU Chelmsford, online
Description: In the Christian tradition, Lent is a season for introspection and grounding in one’s faith, as Christians accompany Jesus and his disciples to his death by crucifixion. While we may not be followers of Christianity, Lent provides a time for us for this kind of introspection and grounding as we move out of winter and into spring. The Rev. Ellen Spero of the Chelmsford UU congregation will be offering an online Lenten retreat based on one created by Jan Richardson called “A Path Called Solace.” It is about facing grief and finding solace in hope, in community and in love. Each week of Lent (March 2 through April 13), Rev. Ellen will share Richardson’s reflection accompanied by questions, artwork and a blessing. As this is online, you can write/paint/draw your responses on your own and if you wish, share them in our online forum. Reflection Topics: “Grief Particularly”; “Singing to the Night”; “Breathing the Water”; “House of Grief, House of Solace”; “The Moon is Always Whole”; “Grief Medicine”; “Bound to Love”; “Heartbeat Liturgy” and “The Cure for Sorrow”
If you are interested or have questions, feel free to reach out to Rev. Ellen minister@uuchelmsford.org.
March 2nd: Online Daily Lenten Reflections from Kate Bowler’s book Good Enough
Listen to a daily recorded reflection from Kate Bowler’s Lenten devotions book, Good Enough. The Rev. Elea Kemler (UU) and the Intern Minister of Groton UU will take turns reading one of the short (sometimes funny) reflections and posting the video on YouTube with a link to Kate’s questions. To find them, visit the Groton UU YouTube page where the Lenten playlist will be updated daily.
