Perhaps you’ve noticed changing signage on the restroom doors at North Parish. A group of Parish Council Committee members has been discussing ways to make our signage more inclusive for people of all genders and abilities. In recognition that gender isn’t a simple binary, the group has removed the binary gender designations on the restrooms off of Freeman Hall. Rather than indicate who can (and therefore imply who cannot) use each restroom, we’ve replaced the signage with indications of the available fixtures and accessibility of these restrooms. Signs indicate whether each restroom includes toilet stalls, urinals, hand washing stations, baby changing stations, and handicap accessibility. Signs also include Braille lettering. We will occasionally review the effectiveness of the restroom signage and adapt it as needed. If you have feedback, questions, or concerns, please share to parishcouncil@northparish.org.
