Lawn Maintenance without the Pollution

A 2020 report by the California Air Resources Board found that emissions from small off-road engines were higher than those emitted from the state’s 14.4 million passenger cars!! Many of these small engines are gasoline-powered lawn mowers and leaf blowers. Their emissions are a health hazard, particularly to the operators who breathe the concentrated exhaust fumes. They can also be very loud, and they contribute to climate change.

We can reduce these negative impacts by using only human- or electric-powered lawn equipment. A rake is a quiet, non-polluting alternative to a gas-powered leaf blower. Lawn mowers and other lawn equipment (and snow blowers) are now available in highly rated electric models that have zero emissions and are generally much quieter.
