Biweekly Tip #12 on “Daily Living for a Healthy Climate”

Eat Less Meat

Raising meat in the US uses more water, more land (increasing deforestation), and more fossil fuels than the production of vegetables and grains for direct human consumption, and it causes undue animal suffering. The global production of food is responsible for a third of all planet-heating gases emitted by human activity, with the use of animals for meat causing twice the pollution of producing plant-based foods.

If everyone in the US ate no meat or cheese just one day per week, it would be the equivalent of not driving 91 billion miles or taking 7.6 million cars off the road.

Eat for the planet – it’s better for Earth, it’s better for animals, it’s better for you.
