DESCRIPTION:In a informative zoom discussion\, Rev. Jamie Rieger\, minister of First Parish in Bedford will share the ways his church and his family have mobilized to help with the Massachusetts migrant crisis. \nUU Mass Action\, in conjunction with a coalition of organizations\, is desperately asking\nfor help from faith-based organizations for immigrant families. Since Gov. Healy’s recent\nchange to the Emergency Assistance family shelter system limiting stays in shelters to 5\ndays\, newly arrived immigrants and families who have maxed out of their 5-day stay are\nnow forced to sleep in the street\, alleyways\, and parking lots. Volunteers are doing their\nbest to provide blankets and food\, but this is a desperate situation. Faith-based\norganizations are being asked to affirm\, in our actions and our words\, that what is good\nfor any of us in the Commonwealth is good for all of us. While some congregations have\nfound a way to provide short term housing within their buildings\, and at least one has\nprovided tents in space outside\, there are other ways congregations can step up to\nprovide assistance during this crisis. \nAttend this one hour zoom meeting to learn how we can help alleviate unnecessary suffering of desperate
