Each Sunday morning children and youth begin the service in the sanctuary with their families. Following a brief “Time for All Ages,” the children head to their Religious Education classes for a time of spiritual exploration, discussion and, of course, fun!
Religious Education (RE) classes are led by parents and volunteers on a trimester basis; this consistency in their leaders allows the children to build close relationships and a special classroom rapport. Elementary Religious Education classes are divided into three age groups, each group using a distinct, age-appropriate curriculum. This year’s curricula come from the Tapestry of Faith program published by the Unitarian Universalist Association.
Approximately once a month, all children in preschool through grade 5 join together for a multi-age “Children’s Chapel” after they leave the sanctuary. This miniature worship service introduces children to the various rituals of Unitarian Universalist worship. Each Chapel has a theme and features a hands-on exploratory activity.
