From time to time special funding opportunities arise that are supported by member dontations beyond annual pledges. Current projects include:
Repair of the North Sanctuary Wall:
In 2012 it was discovered that the major support beam in the north wall of the sanctuary had rotted out from many years of water damage. In spring 2013, a new metal beam was manufactured to replace the wooden beam and installed in its place. The total cost of the repair (over $27,000 to date) has exceeded what we had accumulated over the years in the Plant Fund. Additional repairs to the wall’s plaster interior and painting are yet to be completed. Any who wish to make a special contribution should send a check with “North Wall” in the memo line.
Welcoming/Accessible Congregation Sign
In 2012 we gathered proposals for a new sign that will be visible to traffic traveling through the Old Center. Mounted on granite posts, the sign will read “North Parish Unitarian Universalist” and will include a rainbow chalice and an accessibility symbol. It will be located near the front walkways and will be lit at night. The total cost is estimated to be about $5,500. Any who wish to make a special contribution should send a check with “New Sign” in the memo line.
